Reporting to the Recreation Coordinator, Youth Program Instructors are an integral part of the Recreation branch. The Youth Program Instructor is responsible for the planning, organization, and implementation of recreation activities for youth. Key Responsibilities Include: * Plan and lead instructional programs for youth. * Set-up and clean-up of any supplies needed for the program. * Effectively communicate with participants and their parents/guardians, addressing any questions, concerns, complaints, or suggestions about the program; pass on any relevant information to the Recreation Coordinator. * Report any issues, concerns, or areas of development to the Recreation Coordinator. * Complete administrative tasks as assigned. * Provide adaptations and modifications to planned exercises/techniques and/or available equipment where appropriate. * Create a welcoming, safe, and positive environment for all participants. *Note: All activities are expected to be performed in a safe manner, in accordance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act and its Regulations, along with Corporate Safety policies, procedures and programs. In addition, all necessary personal protective equipment must be used and maintained in good condition. Qualifications and Requirements: * Excellent customer service, communication, organization, and problem-solving skills. * Experience working with children/youth, preferably in a recreational setting. * Previous experience planning and implementing program plans. * Availability/flexibility to work daytime, evenings, and weekends. * Valid Standard First Aid & CPR-C Certificate or willing to obtain prior to employment. * HIGH FIVE: Principles of Healthy Childhood Development (Considered an asset). * Due to the nature of this position a Police Vulnerable Sector Check (VSC) satisfactory to the Town (Those 17 Years & Older) or the completion of Declaration of Minors – Working with Vulnerable Individuals Self Declaration Form (Those 16 Years and Younger) is required.
