The Division of Pathology and Clinical Molecular Diagnostics (CMD) at the Hospital for Sick Children is a multifaceted department that combines the analysis of cellular and molecular abnormalities underlying disease processes. This integration facilitates the timely delivery of life-changing diagnostic results. The Pathologists' Assistant will work with the team of Pathologists' Assistants, Pathologists and Medical Laboratory Technologists within the Pathology Laboratory, a division of the Department of Paediatric Laboratory Medicine Here's What You'll Get To Do Perform surgical gross dictation and dissection of small and large specimens according to facility protocol under the direction of the SickKids pathologists. Provide detailed diagrammatic sampling of digital specimen representation. Assist pathologists with autopsy procedures, including routine autopsies, infectious autopsy protocols, metabolic autopsy protocols and forensic autopsy procedures. Perform gross specimen imaging and microscopic imaging. Perform X-ray imaging using digital Faxitron. Communicate with other departments, including Health Records, Diagnostic Imaging, in-patient units and Protection Services. Coordinate the many facets of the autopsy with the appropriate personnel involved. Contribute to the academic pursuits of the Division of Pathology as they relate to autopsy and surgical pathology. Engage in internal quality assurance and hospital rounds preparation. Perform such administrative, supervisory, teaching and other duties as defined by the needs of the Division of Pathology. Here's What You'll Need Bachelor of Science required, preferably in a Life Science field. Graduate, or upcoming/recent graduate of MCISc Pathologists' Assistant Program. Certification or eligibility for certification with Canadian Association of Pathologists (CAP-ACP) is preferred. Prior experience with gross dictation and dissection and/or autopsy assistance. Paediatric pathology experience preferred. Working knowledge of human anatomy. Working knowledge of digital photography. Proficiency in the use of Laboratory Information Systems and common Microsoft Office applications. Ability to work independently and as part of the Pathology team to provide quality laboratory services for physicians and patients. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Exigences

Candidates must have a Bachelor of Science and be a graduate or recent graduate of a Pathologists' Assistant program. Certification from the Canadian Association of Pathologists is preferred, along with experience in gross dissection and paediatric pathology.
