About the Position Timbercreek Capital is seeking an Analyst for the Corporate Finance team within the Finance department. The Analyst will support the corporate month-end close process, including preparing and posting journal entries, maintaining supporting schedules, performing bank and balance sheet reconciliations, reviewing trial balances, and preparing monthly management reporting packages. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, highly organized, analytical, and comfortable working in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment with multiple recurring deadlines. This is a 10-12-month contract role. Key Responsibilities Prepare and post journal entries for corporate entities Prepare daily and monthly cash reconciliations on corporate bank accounts. Prepare reconciliations of intercompany and related-party balances, including investigating and resolving reconciling items. Review AP invoices and employee expenses for appropriate coding, entity, department, and business line allocations. Support the month-end close process by reviewing trial balances, investigating unusual variances, ensuring entries are complete and accurate, and resolving reconciling items on a timely basis. Prepare monthly management reporting packages, including supporting schedules, variance analysis, commentary, and follow-up on review notes. Maintain and update corporate reporting schedules, including balance sheet schedules, prepaid and accrual schedules, fixed asset and depreciation schedules. Prepare monthly sales tax filings and related working papers. Support annual audits and other external reporting requirements by preparing supporting files, responding to PBC requests, and organizing audit documentation. Maintain, follow, and improve internal controls and documentation to support the integrity of accounting records and the accuracy of financial information. Coordinate and prioritize daily work to meet recurring deadlines and support an efficient monthly close process. Identify, analyze, respond to, and resolve issues and problems as they arise, escalating where appropriate. Work with team members to improve operational efficiency, streamline recurring processes, and enhance reporting templates and supporting schedules. Deal with internal and external stakeholders in a professional and timely manner, responding to queries or escalating where necessary. Participate in special projects as required. Job Requirements Education and Experience Post secondary education in Finance, Accounting, Business, or related area of study. 1–2 years of experience in accounting, financial reporting, corporate finance, or a related finance role. Real estate industry experience is considered an asset. Knowledge of mortgage lending practices is an asset. Experience with accounting, ERP, or investment management systems such as Yardi is considered an asset. Qualifications Advanced skills in Excel, PowerPoint, and Word. A professional demeanor coupled with strong communication skills both written and verbal. Demonstrates a high degree of integrity, diplomacy, discretion, and confidentiality. Ability to listen carefully, understand requirements, ask thoughtful questions, and respond appropriately. Ability to work and act independently using good judgment when assessing difficult situations. Ability to remain calm and focused in high pressure situations. Self-motivated, proactive, and results-oriented, with the ability to work independently while seeking guidance when appropriate. Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to multi-task, prioritize, and meet multiple recurring deadlines. Excellent problem-solving capabilities. Strong attention to detail, accuracy, follow-up, and ownership of deliverables. Flexible with a “can-do” attitude and a “no task is too big or too small” attitude.
