About the Position Timbercreek Capital is seeking a Vice President, CMHC Origination who will thrive in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment. The successful candidate will be a member of Timbercreek Capital’s Origination team and will be focused on the sourcing and execution of CMHC-insured loans. The individual must be a self-starter, experienced with managing transactions and deal teams towards successful execution. They should bring an existing roster of direct borrowers and broker relationships, and while primarily requiring CMHC expertise, ideally they would also have experience across different security positions and commercial real estate asset classes. This position is an excellent opportunity for a candidate to participate in building a substantial CMHC lending platform in addition to growing and developing in all areas of Private Debt and non-bank structured financing. Key Responsibilities Facilitating the process of Loan Origination (primarily focused on CMHC-insured product) which includes: sourcing, preliminary sizing, structuring, pricing, issuance of LOIs and Commitments and preparation of Loan Credit Submissions for CMHC and internally with Timbercreek Capital throughout Ontario. Review new CMHC loan opportunities/applications with the CMHC investment team on both term and construction projects across all CMHC products. Coordinate with Associates/Analysts on the completion of detailed preliminary underwriting of loan investments presentations which includes the compiling of market information to support all assumptions for the investment. Frequently liaise and correspond with the investment team, mortgage brokerage community as well as potential borrower contacts across Ontario to facilitate the origination of new CMHC loans for Timbercreek Capital. Ongoing training and mentorship of Associates. Assist with and contribute to the process of making investment decisions and recommendations along-side the Investment team. Proactively work in collaboration with the investment team to ensure expected closing timelines for new loans are achieved. Contribute positively to the working and branding culture of Timbercreek Capital. Day-to-day management of Associates. Special Projects as assigned. Job Requirements Education and Experience Minimum of 7 years of experience in the commercial mortgage industry with a focus on mortgage origination, property valuation, financial analysis, excel modeling and management of due diligence. An undergraduate degree Business, Real Estate or a related discipline would be an asset. Mortgage Agent or Broker License would be an asset. Qualifications CMHC Originations / Execution Track Record. Experience originating, underwriting interim financings on income producing assets, construction and land would be an asset. Strong leadership qualities and relationship management skills with both external and internal stakeholders. Well-developed analytical / problem-solving skills. Strategic thinking and decision-making skills. Superior organizational and time management skills in order to manage work volumes to meet multiple deadlines under tight timelines while always ensuring a high level of accuracy and quality. Professional demeanor coupled with excellent communication (both written and verbal) and presentation skills. Advanced computer skills (Excel, Power Point, Word). Driven, self-motivated individual who is proactive, takes initiative and has the ability to work independently without a lot of direction. Team player who works well with individuals at all levels.
