BASIC FUNCTION: The Occupational Health and Safety (OH&S) Coordinator works under the supervision of the OH&S Group Lead within the organizational structure of Environmental Health & Safety Group to assist in ensuring compliance with safety regulations, identifying hazards, and implementing programmatic measures to create a safe and healthy work environment. RESPONSIBILITIES: * Conduct Safety Inspections: Assist in regular inspections of work sites, equipment, and processes to identify potential hazards and ensure compliance with safety regulations. * Risk Assessment: Assist in conducting risk assessments and hazard analyses to determine the level of risk associated with various tasks and activities. * Safety Training: Contributing to the development and delivery of safety training programs for employees, focusing on topics such as proper lifting techniques, chemical safety, and due diligence. * Accident Investigation: Participate in accident investigations to identify root causes and research preventive measures to avoid similar incidents in the future. * Data Management: Maintain accurate records of safety inspections, training sessions, and incident reports to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements. * Collaboration: Work closely with supervisors, managers, and employees to promote a culture of safety and continuous improvement. KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS: * Knowledge of OH&S program metrics used to evaluate the effectiveness of a nuclear facilities safety program. * Knowledge of occupational fundamental knowledge and awareness of fire protection/emergency response regulations and best industry practices. * Basic knowledge of WorkSafeBC, NFPA, NFCC, and CNSC regulations. * Communication and presentation skills, both verbal and written. * Strong attention to detail and analytical skills. * Ability to work independently and as part of a team. * Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and data management software. NUCLEAR ENERGY WORKER: The position requires the incumbent to be trained and designated as a Nuclear Energy Worker (NEW). Training is provided by TRIUMF. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND YEARS OF EXPERIENCE: * Bachelor's degree in OHS or directly related field * Minimum of 1 year of professional experience in OHS * Previous experience working at a licensed nuclear facility is considered an asset. Applicants must be legally able to work in Canada on a permanent basis (Canadian Citizen or Permanent Resident).
