CNC (computer numerical control) machinist

Education: Other trades certificate or diploma. Work setting: General manufacturing. Oil and gas industry. Tasks: Compute dimensions and tolerances of machine parts. Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, charts and tables. Set up and adjust production machineries/tools. Fit and assemble components and machine parts to close tolerance. Document and report deviations from specifications and tolerances. Maintain inspection records and complete inspection reports. Verify dimensions of parts machined using precise measuring instruments (e.g., micrometers, calipers). Set up and operate conventional and computer controlled machine tools. Verify dimensions of products for accuracy and conformance to specifications using precision measuring instruments. Certificates, licences, memberships, and courses : Machinist Trade Certification. Machinist Red Seal Endorsment. Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) Certificate. Measuring tools: Micrometers. Callipers. Gauges. Verniers. Computer and technology knowledge: Mastercam CAD/CAM. Specialized machining processes: Plasma ARC. Water jet. Equipment and machinery experience: Boring machines. Drill presses. Honing machines. Specialization or experience: Specialized environmental skills and knowledge. Transportation/travel information: Own transportation. Own vehicle. Valid driver's licence.
