THE OPPORTUNITY The UGDSB is seeking a dynamic individual to join our Student Support Services team for a permanent part-time opportunity in the capacity of Communicative Disorders Assistant. Location: North Wellington area schools Note: School location/geographical area cannot be guaranteed in perpetuity and are subject to change based on student and system needs. FTE and Hours: 0.5 FTE; 17.5 hours per week Base Salary Range: $49,264 - $59,304 per year (based on 1.0 FTE full-time annual salary), plus applicable vacation pay, in accordance with the ESA; wage rate effective September 1, 2025 Labour Market Adjustment: A 5.0% labour market adjustment to be applied to the base salary range; salary range inclusive of market adjustment is $51,727 - $62,269 per year (based on 1.0 FTE full-time annual salary), plus applicable vacation pay, in accordance with the ESA; wage rate effective September 1, 2025 Note: Labour market adjustment may fluctuate based on local market and at discretion of the Board. Start Date: To commence September 2, 2026 Board Information: 10-month position (yearly from September – June following the school year calendar); permanent; part-time; Professional Student Services Personnel (PSSP) Union Vacancy Status: This posting is for an existing vacancy Reporting to the Manager of Communication, Language & Speech Services, the responsibilities of the Communicative Disorders Assistant are as follows: Responsibilities Provide Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) support for students; create low-tech communication aids; set up and program high tech voice output devices; assist with the training of students, teachers, Early Childhood Educators and Educational Assistants in the use of the devices Assist Speech-Language Pathologists (S-LP) in providing in-class modeling and support in the use of oral language and phonological awareness activities Implement individual and group communication, speech and language programs for eligible students; prepare lesson plans, activities and materials; document student performance Other duties as assigned Experience And Qualifications Communication Disorders Assistant (CDA) diploma or equivalent Training and experience related to child development and childhood exceptionalities, specific articulation and language development, speech and language disorders, treatments and interventions used Experience with set up and use of augmentative communication systems and technology, including assistive listening equipment (FM systems) Excellent verbal, written, interpersonal, time management and problem-solving skills Ability to work independently Valid driver's licence and reliable transportation APPLICATION DETAILS Ready to make a difference?
