About the Company Our client is an insurance brokerage firm. They are looking for a Senior Accountant who will be responsible for general accounting, financial and management reporting, preparation and co-ordination of budgets, liaise with external auditors, and provides support to CFO on special projects and corporate initiatives. About the Opportunity General Accounting Record business transactions, process accruals and adjustments, reconcile and analyze accounts and prepare monthly accounting statements. Preparation of EFT files. Bank Reconciliations for Premium Financing division. Full cycle accounting and financial reporting for one of the subsidiaries using QuickBooks Online. Prepare cash projections. Review insurance company payables. Oversee financial activities and accounting for Aggregate Funds. Back-up for Accounting Manager and Premium Finance Administrator. Back-up for Claims & Financial Analyst (financial and management reporting functions only). Financial Reporting Prepare financial statements and management reports for the parent company, including Trust Position. Assist in the preparation of year-end financial statements, supporting schedules and audit working papers, as assigned. Prepare Premium Financing margin calculations and submissions to the bank. Prepare federal and provincial returns, i.e. HST, RST, as required. Back-up for CFO, tasks as assigned. Management Reporting Oversee or prepare monthly Revenue and statistical reporting, including but not limited to Exec Receivables Summaries, Flash Reports, Revenue Analysis, Volume Summaries, Statistical Overviews, Lapsed and Cancelled reports, Premium Financing reports, and other reports as assigned. Provide the Executive and departmental managers with regular reports, including performance in comparison to budgets. Prepare and analyze management reports. Ad hoc development and support of TAM/Access/Excel reports for senior management, department managers and Claims Department. Budget Coordination of annual revenue budgets, including design, implementation, troubleshooting with departments and integration into Budget (Microsoft Access), consolidation and reporting. Assist the CFO in preparation and consolidation of annual Budgets. About You Near completion or completed CPA designation Strong knowledge of accounting, general ledger, journal entries, and bookkeeping. Strong knowledge of accounting best practices and internal controls. Ability to work independently with minimum supervision. Attention to detail in all areas of work. Superior organizational, time management and prioritizing skills. Ability to adapt to and learn.
