Crisis Intervention and Service Manager Company: Victim Services of Durham Region Type: Full-Time Permanent Position Location: 605 Rossland Road East, Whitby, ON L1N 0B8 Classification: This position requires on-site attendance five days per week and includes paid after-hours on-call leadership support. About the Organization Victim Services of Durham Region is a non-profit charitable organization that works with community partners to support victims of crime and tragic circumstances. We provide on-site and telephone crisis intervention services through community and self-referrals, as well as referrals from the Durham Regional Police Service and Ontario Provincial Police. We also work to prevent violence through awareness and education. We are seeking a full-time Crisis Intervention and Service Manager to provide operational leadership, program oversight, staff supervision, and clinical support to ensure the effective delivery of trauma-informed, client-centred services across the organization. This role is responsible for ensuring effective day-to-day operations, supporting and developing staff, maintaining strong community partnerships, and ensuring services are delivered in a trauma-informed, client-centred, and culturally responsive manner. The successful candidate will be an operational owner who anticipates challenges, takes initiative, and ensures that programs and services run smoothly while maintaining a strong focus on client outcomes and organizational priorities. Responsibilities Provide day-to-day operational leadership and oversight of victim support, crisis intervention, counselling, and prevention services, ensuring effective, responsive, and high-quality service delivery. Take ownership of operational priorities, anticipate challenges, and proactively address issues to ensure programs and services operate smoothly and effectively. Lead, supervise, support, and mentor staff, students, and volunteers, fostering accountability, professional growth, and high standards of service. Foster a collaborative, inclusive, and supportive team environment that prioritizes employee well-being, accountability, and positive client outcomes. Support recruitment, onboarding, orientation, training, and performance development of staff and volunteers. Oversee client intake, referrals, case assignment, service coordination, and client flow to ensure timely access to appropriate supports. Coordinate staff schedules, program coverage, and on-call rotations to ensure continuity of service. Review client documentation and records to ensure compliance with organizational policies, funding requirements, confidentiality standards, and professional practices. Contribute to program planning, development, evaluation, and continuous quality improvement initiatives. Oversee and support data collection, reporting requirements, outcome measurement, and accreditation activities. Develop and maintain strong, collaborative relationships with police, community organizations, funders, and other key partners. Represent Victim Services of Durham Region at community meetings, presentations, outreach activities, and partnership initiatives. Work closely with the Executive Director to advance organizational priorities, strengthen service delivery, and support the ongoing development of the organization. Qualifications Post-secondary education in Social Service Work, Social Work, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Registration in good standing with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers (OCSWSSW) is considered an asset. Minimum of five (5) years of direct service experience in a human services environment, including at least three (3) years of experience developing, implementing, or evaluating programs and providing services to individuals impacted by crime, violence, trauma, or tragic circumstances. Minimum of two (2) years of supervisory experience, with a demonstrated ability to lead, support, and develop multidisciplinary teams. Demonstrated experience providing operational leadership, managing competing priorities, exercising sound judgment, and addressing issues proactively. Demonstrated knowledge and application of trauma-informed, client-centred, anti-oppressive, and culturally responsive practices. Strong leadership, organizational, problem-solving, and decision-making skills, with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and emotionally demanding environment. Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills, with a demonstrated ability to build and maintain effective relationships with clients, staff, community partners, and other stakeholders. Knowledge of community resources, victim services, crisis intervention, and the criminal justice system is considered an asset. Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and electronic case management systems. Employment is contingent upon a satisfactory Criminal Record Check and Vulnerable Sector Check. Willingness to participate in occasional evening and weekend work, including the agency’s paid on-call support system. Valid Ontario driver’s licence and access to reliable transportation, with the ability to travel throughout Durham Region to attend community partner meetings, events, and other organizational activities.
