Actual benefits may vary by role and location. Role Description The Technician role at Viking Fire Protection Inc. is a full-time, on-site position based in Edmonton, AB. In this role, the Technician installs, inspects, tests, and maintains fire protection and detection systems according to company standards, applicable codes, and customer requirements. The Technician performs troubleshooting and repairs, documents work performed, and communicates clearly with clients and team members to ensure systems operate safely and efficiently. The position involves reading and interpreting technical drawings and manuals, using appropriate tools and equipment, and following strict safety procedures. The Technician collaborates with project managers and other technicians, supports supplemental training initiatives, and contributes to a culture of quality and compliance. Qualifications Technical skills in installing, inspecting, testing, and maintaining fire protection and detection systems, with the ability to read blueprints and technical documentation. Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities, including diagnosing system issues and performing timely, accurate repairs. Attention to detail and organizational skills for accurate documentation, recordkeeping, and adherence to regulatory and company standards. Effective communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to interact professionally with clients, colleagues, and supervisors. Commitment to safety practices, including following workplace safety procedures and relevant fire codes and regulations. Relevant technical certification, trade qualification, or vocational training in fire protection, electrical, mechanical, or a related field (or equivalent experience). Ability to work on-site in Edmonton, AB, including occasional travel to client sites and performing physical tasks such as standing, lifting, and working at heights, as required. Valid driver’s license and a clean driving record are considered an asset. Previous experience in fire protection, building systems, or a similar technical environment is an asset.
