Role Overview: CityKidz is seeking Theatre Tech Crew Volunteers to provide technical theatre support to support the success of engaging, magical, entertainment shows for kids attending our Saturday program sessions. Through this experience, you will have the opportunity to facilitate inspirational moments and the pursuit of big dreams for the children who attend our programs. As a Tech Team Member, you play a critical role in operating sound, computer, and light equipment for CityKidz Saturday studio shows. The Tech Team creates an engaging and entertaining environment where children aged 6-11 can have fun, learn CityKidz lessons, and find inspiration to pursue positive character traits and big dreams. Key Role Highlights: -Master the magic of live production, and understand the needs of performers -Boost understanding of technical equipment & problem solving -Play a big role behind the scenes with a team Opportunity to work within a team Responsibilities: -Develop the skills necessary for operating Tech Team equipment, including studio lighting, computer presentation software, and sound boards. -Participate in show rehearsals with the CityKidz theatre team to familiarize yourself with show dynamics and equipment operation. -Operate Tech Team equipment during CityKidz Saturday studio shows, ensuring smooth execution and creating an engaging atmosphere for the audience. -Work in cooperation with Tech Team staff and fellow Tech Team members, cast members, and show leadership to coordinate cues and transitions effectively Who This Role Is For -Professionals, retirees, caregivers, students, or any individual who enjoys interacting with kids! -Individuals with a warm heart, and a caring, supportive manner -Those who desire to inspire kids to dream big Skills & Qualifications: -Experience working with or willingness to learn the skills needed for operating studio lighting, computer presentation software, and/or a sound board, with training provided as necessary (preferred) -Basic competence in operating a computer, including familiarity with computer software and navigation -Must be physically able to climb the Tech booth ladder (over 12 feet) in the CityKidz theatre to access equipment and control panels (required) -Ability to be attentive and responsive to show leadership and show dynamics, adjusting cues and settings as needed to enhance the show experience -Ability to operate Tech Team equipment during CityKidz Saturday studio shows, ensuring smooth execution and creating an engaging atmosphere for the audience -Ability to work well in cooperation with Tech Team staff and fellow Tech Team members, cast members, and show leadership to coordinate cues and transitions effectively Competencies & Attributes: -Integrity and commitment to CityKidz Mission of inspiring children to pursue positive character traits and big dreams -A passion for children to overcome barriers in their life and to dream big dreams -Willingness to learn -High level of attentiveness and responsiveness -Competent and confident -Cooperative and collaborative Training & Support Training provided for roles during rehearsals and before and after performances CityKidz Volunteer Community, Appreciation & Support: Lifechanging impact & heartwarming moments 250+ volunteers & 800+ kids & youth throughout the city! CityKidz apparel for all volunteers Lunch + snacks provided for all volunteers for Saturday programs Annual Volunteer Appreciation event Twice a year Volunteer Pancake Breakfast Verification of Volunteer Hours Signed off On Volunteer Years of Service Recognition Advancement Opportunities to Senior and Leadership Roles Child Abuse Awareness and Protection Training On the job and ongoing role trainings References provided on an individual case basis Flexibility and responsive collaborative communication Time Commitment: -Time Commitment: Minimum two (2) seasons, equivalent to eight (8) months, for at least 1x a month, but preferably biweekly. Saturdays through March-June and September-December -Shifts: Tuesdays 7-9pm for rehearsal, and Saturdays 7:30-3:30pm for performance Work Environment & Additional Details Environment: Working on a platform reached by ladder, over 12 feet.
