Teach, Guard, and Inspire In and Around the Water Every day, you'll have the opportunity to make a meaningful impact by teaching essential water safety skills, building confidence in and around the water, and creating safe, welcoming experiences for members and guests. QUICK FACTS * Compensation: $20.71 per hour, plus membership to Y facilities * Reporting to: Manager, Aquatics * Location: H2O Adventure + Fitness Centre and/or Kelowna Family Y * Schedule: Part-Time hours, with shifts on evenings and weekends to ensure programming needs are met This role is ideal for someone who is passionate about aquatics, enjoys working with people of all ages, and is committed to creating safe, positive, and engaging experiences in and around the water. WHAT YOU WILL DO In this role, you will help create safe, welcoming, and engaging aquatic experiences while supporting participants as they build confidence, develop skills, and achieve their goals. * Deliver high-quality swim lessons that build confidence, teach essential water safety skills, and support lifelong participation in aquatic activities. * Provide vigilant lifeguard supervision to ensure the safety and wellbeing of all participants and guests. * Create welcoming and inclusive experiences that encourage participation and belonging. * Respond quickly and effectively to emergencies and facility incidents. * Build positive relationships with members, participants, families, volunteers, and colleagues. * Maintain aquatic spaces, equipment, and safety standards in accordance with YMCA policies and procedures. * Contribute to a culture of teamwork, service excellence, and continuous improvement. WHAT YOU BRING * YMCA Canada Swim Instructor or Lifesaving Society Swim Instructor certification. * National Lifeguard Pool certification. * National Lifeguard Waterpark certification, or ability to obtain prior to start date. * Current Standard First Aid certification. * Current CPR-C certification, issued within the previous 12 months (facility specific requirement). * Airway Management and Oxygen Administration (AMOA) certification, or willingness to obtain. * Strong communication, relationship-building, and customer service skills. Exigences
