Our platform supports complex, high-volume workflows across bookings, availability, payments, client management, communications, and business operations. As we expand globally and introduce more AI-powered capabilities, we are continuing to modernize our platform while maintaining the reliability, security, and performance our customers depend on. About the Role We are looking for a Senior Back-End Developer who can design systems—not simply implement tickets. You will play a key role in the architecture and evolution of Yocale’s back-end platform, working primarily with C#, .NET, SQL Server, Azure, and Kubernetes. You will help us improve a mature, multi-tenant SaaS platform, establish clear service boundaries, introduce event-driven patterns where they provide real value, and build the APIs and data services behind our next generation of scheduling, payment, and AI-powered features. This is an on-site position at our North Vancouver office. It is best suited to an engineer who values close collaboration, technical ownership, and direct involvement in architectural decisions. What We’re Looking For * 7+ years of professional back-end development experience, including substantial experience with the Microsoft technology stack. * Advanced proficiency in C#, modern .NET, andASP.NETCore. * Strong SQL Server expertise, including schema design, query optimization, indexing, execution-plan analysis, concurrency, and transactional integrity. * Experience designing and operating production-grade, multi-tenant SaaS applications. * Strong knowledge of RESTful API design, versioning, authentication, authorization, validation, and backward compatibility. * Hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure, ideally including AKS/Kubernetes, Azure Functions, Azure Service Bus, Azure SQL, Key Vault, and Application Insights. * Experience with asynchronous and event-driven systems, message brokers, retry strategies, idempotency, and failure recovery. * Strong understanding of distributed-system concerns such as consistency, scalability, resiliency, observability, and graceful degradation. * Experience with automated unit, integration, contract, and end-to-end testing. * A security-first mindset, including familiarity with OAuth 2.0, OpenID Connect, JWT, role-based access control, tenant isolation, and secure API development. * Experience using AI-assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot or Cursor responsibly while maintaining code quality, security, and independent technical judgment. * Strong communication skills and the ability to explain technical decisions, trade-offs, and risks clearly. Nice to Have * Experience modernizing a large modular monolith or incrementally migrating legacy functionality into independently deployable services. * Experience with high-volume scheduling, booking, calendar, or availability systems. * Experience integrating payment platforms such as Stripe and working with payment, subscription, refund, and reconciliation workflows. * Familiarity with PCI DSS, SOC 2, HIPAA, or other security and privacy requirements relevant to SaaS platforms. * Experience with Redis, MongoDB, or other specialized data stores. * Experience integrating LLMs, AI agents, vector search, or AI orchestration services into production applications. * Familiarity with OpenTelemetry and centralized tracing, metrics, logging, and alerting. * Experience improving the performance and reliability of high-concurrency transactional systems. What You’ll Own * Back-End Architecture:** Design and build secure, scalable, and maintainable services using C#, modern .NET, and ASP..NET Core. * Platform Modernization:** Help evolve Yocale’s architecture by strengthening domain boundaries and introducing modular or event-driven services where appropriate. * Scheduling and Transactional Workflows:** Design reliable systems for bookings, provider availability, recurring appointments, payments, notifications, and other business-critical workflows. * Database Performance:** Optimize SQL Server schemas, queries, stored procedures, indexes, locking behaviour, and data-access patterns for high-volume production workloads. * API Development:** Build secure, well-documented, and backward-compatible APIs for Yocale’s web applications, mobile applications, integrations, and AI services. * Cloud Engineering:** Design and operate Azure-based services running within our Kubernetes and cloud infrastructure. * Reliability and Observability:** Implement effective logging, metrics, distributed tracing, alerting, retry handling, and production diagnostics. * AI Enablement:** Work with our AI team to build the APIs, data pipelines, orchestration layers, and security controls required for reliable AI-powered capabilities. * Security by Design:** Apply secure development practices to authentication, authorization, sensitive data, tenant isolation, secrets, and external integrations. * Engineering Quality:** Improve coding standards, automated testing, code reviews, technical documentation, and architectural decision records. * Delivery Ownership:** Take responsibility for solutions from discovery and design through implementation, deployment, monitoring, and production support. * Technical Leadership:** Mentor intermediate and junior developers, provide constructive code-review feedback, and help the team make sound, pragmatic engineering decisions. * Continuous Improvement:** Identify architectural debt, performance bottlenecks, operational risks, and opportunities to improve developer productivity. What Success Looks Like You will succeed in this role by delivering reliable production systems, improving the performance and maintainability of Yocale’s platform, raising engineering standards across the team, and making architectural decisions that balance long-term direction with practical business needs.
