Job Description We invite you to join the world of hospitality at Sheraton Suites Calgary Eau Claire as our Flower & Wolf Second Cook. The Second Cook an important role in supporting restaurant culinary operations through quality food preparation, station organization, and efficient service execution while continuing to develop advanced culinary techniques and production skills. Please note that this is a contract position for the period from August 31, 2026 to December 31, 2026. Key Responsibilities: Food Preparation & Service Prepare and service food items for à la carte and buffet menus according to hotel recipes, presentation standards, and portion guidelines. Assist with daily mise en place and station preparation for restaurant operations. Maintain strong knowledge of menu items, daily features, allergens, ingredients, and promotions. Support consistent food quality, taste, and presentation standards during all meal periods. Ensure timely preparation and execution during high-volume service periods. Kitchen Operations Maintain clean, organized, and fully stocked workstations throughout each shift. Ensure proper product storage, labeling, dating, and rotation practices (FIFO) to minimize waste and spoilage. Support opening, service, and closing kitchen procedures. Assist with inventory organization and replenishment of kitchen supplies. Operate kitchen equipment safely and efficiently while reporting maintenance concerns promptly. Team Collaboration Work collaboratively with culinary and service teams to ensure smooth kitchen operations. Actively participate in daily shift briefings by sharing ideas, feedback, and operational updates. Support fellow team members during peak service periods while maintaining a positive and professional attitude. Contribute to a respectful, inclusive, and team-oriented work environment. Safety & Compliance Follow all food safety, sanitation, and hygiene standards in accordance with Alberta Health Services regulations and hotel policies. Maintain compliance with WHMIS, Occupational Health & Safety standards, and safe food handling procedures. Ensure proper handling, storage, and temperature control of food products. Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of all kitchen equipment, utensils, and work areas. Adhere to company grooming, uniform, and workplace safety standards. Qualifications What will you bring to this role? Minimum 2 years culinary experience in a hotel, restaurant, or similar fast-paced kitchen environment. Working towards Journeyperson/Red Seal certification or international equivalent considered an asset. Food Handler certification required. Culinary diploma or certification considered an asset. Strong interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills. Ability to work efficiently under pressure while maintaining quality and consistency. Highly responsible, reliable, and organized with strong attention to detail. Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment. Frequent lifting, pushing, and pulling up to 50 lbs. Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-temperature kitchen environment.
